Boda Boda Riders in Embu town have a reason to smile after receiving a Sh. 3 million donation from President William Ruto.
The donation came following a request from Governor Cecily Mbarire to the President to support them in his recent visit of the county during his weeklong development tour of Mt Kenya Region.
Speaking while handing over the funds to the riders' leadership on Thursday in company of area (Kirimari Ward) MCA Ibrahim Swaleh, Governor Mbarire thanked the president for keeping his pledge She said the funds will go a long way in supporting various economic empowerment initiatives being undertaken by different groups in the sector. "The sectors play a vital role in driving our economy and as a government, we are committed to empowering them through targeted economic programs to ensure continuous growth," she said.
MCA Swaleh asked the riders to make good use of the funds by investing in income generating activities. "We are hoping the funds will leave a lasting mark in the lives of our boda boda operators through proper investment," he said.
