Religious leaders have urged residents of Kasipul constituency to observe restraint and uphold tenets of peaceful co-existence as they mourn the death of their departed member of parliament Charles Ongondo Were.
He called on political leaders to forge unity among residents as plans to bury the slain area MP were being finalized.
The clerics drawn from churches across Kasipul constituency were speaking in Oyugis town during a press conference where they also asked the state machineries to expeditiously fast track investigations into the heinous act and ensure that justice wasserved. "We are asking for love among the residents, brotherhood and the love of Christ to bring us together as we mourn the death of our MP," said Bishop Fred Ogolla of the Salvation Army Gospel Cannan church.
Pastor John Aura of Saint Alfayo Musanda Holy Ghost church of East Africa condemned those behind the heinous act and called for justice but asked residents to remain calm and the agencies time to bring the culprits to book. "Lawlessness and violence cannot be part of our mission as a church .Therefore we strongly condemn violence in the strongest terms possible," Pastor Hesborn of the SDA church said.
