The government, through the Ministry of Education, is undertaking significant reforms in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector by modularizing the curriculum.
This initiative aims to enhance the flexibility and accessibility of TVET programmes, allowing learners to acquire targeted skills in shorter, more manageable learning units.
While addressing KNA in his office, Kericho Technical, Vocational Education and Training College Principal Shadrack Tonui pointed out that the new curriculum would go a long way in changing the lives of many youths in Kericho and beyond by providing the necessary life-changing technical skills. "The modularized approach allows learners to specialize in areas of interest, receive certificates for completed modules, and potentially enter the workforce sooner. This curriculum will also provide a pathway for further learning and career advancement," Tonui added.
Tonui, who also serves as National Secretary General for all the TVETs in the country, thanked the government for the steadfast and continued support especially for designing modularized curriculum for skilling the youths Tonui said the shift from the old theory based system to the new system through Technical and Vocational Education and Training Curriculum Development, Assessment, and Certification Council (TVET-CDACC) has revolutionized the training and the assessment of the students in the TVETs schools "This is a learner-friendly system of education, unlike the one we had in the past that was a teacher-centered system," Tonui noted.
