Police detectives investigating the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Ong'ondo Were have recovered the pistol used in the fatal shooting.
According to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, a ballistic study identified the Sarsilmaz pistol used to fire five bullets that killed Were. "The ballistic report we have received unequivocally links the Sarsilmaz pistol, recovered from the residence of one of the suspects, to the fatal shots that took his life," said Kanja.
He added that the pistol was involved in other criminal activities, including at least three robberies in Nairobi and Kiambu.
One robbery occurred just four days before Were's murder.
