Drivers traversing the Bungoma-Eldoret Highway have been warned of a traffic snarl-up at Bugembe after farmers took over the highway to protest.

Confirming the incident, the Long Distance Drivers and Conductors Association (LoDDCA) shared a video on social media, revealing that the traffic had left several truckers stuck on both sides of the highway. "Traffic at Bugembe along the busy Bungoma-Eldoret highway has been disrupted by farmers protesting.

However, the police are restoring calm," LoDDCA stated.

In the video, smoke could be seen billowing from the middle of the highway where the protestors had supposedly lit bonfires during the protests.
