The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) will spend over five million shillings to construct a digital hub in Ugunja, area CDF chairman Benard Omollo Were has said.

According to Mr Were, his committee was committed to implementing the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, where all wards countrywide are supposed to have digital hubs.

Speaking during the disbursement of CDF bursaries, the chairman said that all three wards in Ugunja constituency will have the hubs. "In our plans, we will have subsequent hubs in two other wards, that is, Sidindi and Sigomere," he said, adding, "This is in line with guidelines issued by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy that we are supposed to have digital hubs in all the wards." Apart from the construction of the hubs, Mr Were said that the CDF will also equip the facilities.

He said that the hubs will help solve the problem of youth unemployment by creating opportunities for them to engage on available online opportunities.
