Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua will be prosecuted like any other Kenyan if he is found to have any connections to the violence that erupted on June 25, DCI boss Mohamed Amin has confirmed.
Amin made the remarks on the afternoon of Monday, June 30, during a press briefing to provide updates on the investigations, five days after protests turned violent in several parts of the country.
During his brief, the DCI boss was questioned on the plausibility of Gachagua facing prosecution in the event he was found to be a person of interest in the protests.
According to the DCI boss, no one was immune to prosecution, and the former Deputy President would face the full force of the law if investigations tied him to the Wednesday violence. "With regard to Rigathi, I would like to put it very clearly that Rigathi Gachagua does not enjoy any immunity against prosecution.
