The Meru County Commissioner (CC), Jacob Ouma, has affirmed the government's commitment to protecting lives and property.

Speaking during a two-day Peoples Dialogue Festival at the Meru National Polytechnic, Ouma criticized the recent looting and destruction witnessed in the region, noting that the primary mandate of security agencies is to safeguard people and ensure law and order is maintained at all times.

The CC emphasized that while peaceful protests are allowed under the law, the government will not allow criminals to take advantage of the demonstrations to steal from hardworking Kenyans. "We cannot stand by and watch as looters hide behind Gen Z protests to steal property and destroy businesses.

That will no longer be tolerated," he vowed.
