Women in Birongo ward, Nyaribari Chache Constituency, Kisii county were treated to goodies worth Sh. 6m by the office of their Woman Rep in what has been viewed as a women's empowerment activity during the harsh economic times.
Over three thousand women were assembled at Taracha grounds in the ward where they were issued with water tanks, cheques, milk goats, hash avocado seedlings and shoes, as individuals or groups.
Speaking during the event, the woman Rep Ms.
Doris Aburi noted that at least 15 tanks with a 10,000-liter capacity and worth Sh. 100,000 each, were given out to various groups, while 145 widows were issued with milk goats.
