The National Land Commission (NLC) has revealed that it is in the process of acquiring private land to pave the way for the construction of the Rongo weighbridge along the Kisii-Isebania road in Migori County.
The NLC Chairman, Gershom Otachi, through a gazette notice, claimed that the acquisition of the land will be done on behalf of the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), which will oversee the construction of the weighbridge. According to the notice, four plots of land, cumulatively 0.7352 hectares, which have been targeted for acquisition, are located in the Kamagambo/Kabuoro area, and are registered under three companies, all under one individual. The weighbridge aims to elevate the infrastructural capacity of the county, in addition to reinforcing transport regulation.
NLC did not, however, mention when the construction of the weighbridge will begin.
