Uasin Gishu County's Department of Health has issued a public notice to alert all the residents about the ongoing heavy rains in various parts of the region and the county.

In the public notice, Dr Evans Kiprotich, the County Director of Health, underscored the potential dangers associated with the heavy downpour, which include waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid and others.

He mentioned flooding as another serious hazard that comes with the heavy rains that lead to the destruction of homes, crops, roads and bridges.

He also outlines risks of landslides, especially in hilly and slopy areas; electric hazards due to fallen powerlines which pose electrocution risk; infrastructure damage like collapsed buildings, toilets and open shades; and lightning and strong winds.
