The High Court has given a new order stopping the arrest and prosecution of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
Justice Chacha Mwita, while issuing a conservatory order, said that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) should not arrest or charge the governor while the current case is still going on. "A conservatory order is hereby issued by refraining respondents from arresting and charging the petitioners based on the investigations undertaken in this matter until September 18, 2025," the judge said in the ruling.
The court decision means that Wamatangi will not be arrested or charged in connection with the ongoing investigations into allegations of corruption within his government until the court delivers its final ruling in September.
