Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Customs Officers have reportedly arrested a passenger over allegations of attempting to traffic drugs through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
According to KRA, the male passenger who had just arrived in Kenya from Bangkok in Thailand was arrested on Saturday morning during a routine check at one of the main airport's entry points. At approximately 8am, the passenger was flagged after his two suitcases, each weighing 23 kilograms, were scanned, and anomalies were detected by the baggage scanner. Upon physical inspection, Customs officers discovered a total of 41 sachets concealed within the luggage, suspected to contain narcotic substances.

"Thanks to the vigilance of our officers and advanced scanner technology, another threat to our borders was stopped in its tracks," noted KRA Customs Officers. "We remain committed to working closely with other government agencies in the fight against drug trafficking and the protection of Kenya's borders," the Authority added.
The latest incident comes barely a month after officers at JKIA arrested a 26-year-old woman suspected of attempting to traffic cocaine.
