Nairobi motorists have been urged to brace for major traffic disruptions on Sunday, August 3, 2025, as the city hosts the Africa Championship (CHAN) tournament. Authorities have announced partial and full road closures, alongside traffic diversions to ease movement around the affected routes.
According to a statement by Nairobi County Traffic Commandant Joseph Chirchir, Aerodrome Road will be closed from Madaraka Roundabout to Bunyala Roundabout.
One side of Langata Road (between Madaraka and Lusaka Roundabouts) and one side of Mombasa Road (from Lusaka to Bunyala Roundabout) will also be inaccessible.
To manage traffic flow, the following alternative routes have been provided: Motorists on Mombasa Road heading to the CBD should use Likoni-Enterprise Road at General Motors or the Southern Bypass at Ole Sereni.
