The rift within the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) is growing wider despite holding a National Executive Council crisis meeting on Tuesday to iron out issues. This stood out when the Deputy leader of the party and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, walked out of a joint presser with the party leader Eugene Wamalwa before it concluded.
Wamalwa went on to accuse President William Ruto of fuelling the wrangles destabilising the political outfit.
Speaking after the NEC meeting at the party's headquarters in Karen, Nairobi, he alleged that President Ruto was sponsoring divisions within DAP-K, insisting his efforts would not succeed. "We are aware of the level of infiltration and the attempts to destabilise our party," he said. "DAP is not going to be divided, intimidated or blackmailed into supporting the so-called broad-based government.
We will stand with the people," he added.
