Following multiple online reports of attacks on civilians in Nairobi's central business district (CBD), police have issued a warning to social media content creators who falsely report being victims of gang attacks.
On September 5, Nairobi Regional Police Commander George Seda said that some TikTok creators are using security incidents to gain popularity and mislead people.
He explained that many of these alleged attacks are not reported to the police, which makes their stories seem untrue.
He added that victims should report any incidents to the police station instead of posting about them on social media, to allow the police to take proper action.
