The National Police Service has reported the recovery of an AK-47 rifle while responding to a kidnapping attempt involving a 16-year-old girl.
Police officers from Lorugum Police Station in Turkana County were reportedly acting on a tip-off from members of the public about a disturbance at a residence in the area.
An armed man was said to have stormed the home in Kaapus Location and attempted to take away a 16-year-old girl forcibly.
When police officers, led by the station's OCS, arrived, the man managed to evade arrest; however, the AK-47 firearm was recovered and secured as an exhibit.
