The National Land Commission (NLC) has issued a land acquisition notice affecting one land owner in Nairobi and 66 owners in Taita Taveta, linked to ongoing road projects in the two counties.
In a gazette notice dated September 26, 2025, NLC Chairman Gershom Otachi said that it is in the process of acquiring a 0.1818-hectare piece of land in Nairobi, which is owned by a company for the Eastern Missing Link Road Project.
The acquisition of the land will be made on behalf of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), which will oversee the construction of the road, according to Otachi.
Otachi noted that anyone affected by the process will be required to submit a written claim for compensation to NLC offices, accompanied by other documents such as ID, land ownership documents, and bank account details.
