The Ministry of Education has assured all stakeholders, including staff, students and parents at the Technical University of Kenya (TUK) of its efforts to resolve the ongoing industrial action that has affected learning at the institution.
In a press statement sent to newsrooms, Higher Education and Research Principal Secretary Beatrice Inyangala said the Technical Committee that was established by the Ministry has been actively engaging all relevant parties to develop a robust Recovery and Sustainable Strategy for the institution. "This committee continues to consult extensively with university management and other key stakeholders to facilitate a fair and lasting resolution," stated the PS.
She urged all affected parties to allow the ongoing negotiations to proceed, noting that the issues under discussion require careful consideration to ensure a long-term solution that upholds stability while minimising disruptions to learning. "I call upon students to remain patient as discussions progress, I assure you that every effort is being made to restore normal operations without compromising academic integrity," she urged.
Dr Inyangala also expressed the government's commitment to delivering quality higher education within the academic calendar. "We will continue to work through the established legal frameworks and governance structures, including the University Council, to implement sustainable solutions," she stated.
