Gem member of Parliament, Elisha Odhiambo has hailed President William Ruto and former Prime Minister, Raila Odinga for signing a deal that will see their parties work together.

Speaking at Argwings Kodhek secondary school in his Gem constituency, Odhiambo said the signing of the memorandum of understanding was a great moment for Kenya as it will resolve the problems that the country has faced in recent past. "I believe that the MoU should resolve the problems the country has had on equitable distribution of resources," said the legislator, who had joined the students, teachers and parents of the school in celebrating good results posted during last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations.

Odhiambo said with Friday's signing of the political cooperation deal, it was obvious that President Ruto will sail through to the second term without much opposition. "President Ruto has in the past voted for Raila twice, during the 2007 general elections and recently during the African Union Commission elections in Addia Ababa," he said, adding "Raila has never voted for him and I am sure he will in 2027." He called on skeptics who have always disparaged talks between President Ruto and Raila Odinga to swallow their pride and join progressive forces in ensuring that the country moves ahead. "I witnessed ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna signing the MoU and he agreed that there was discussion in the central committee and they approved it," he said.

Odhiambo challenged Siaya governor James Orengo to come out and tell Kenyans whether he supported the political pact between the ODM leader and the president or not, adding that the governor has been sending mixed signals prior to this development.
