The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Wote Campus, in partnership with Red Cross and Family Bank has trained 100 boda boda riders with essential first aid skills in an effort to prevent deaths during accidents.
During the training, the boda boda riders were taught critical first aid skills which included cardiopulmonary resuscitating (CPR), wound dressing, controlling severe breeding, stabilising fractures and safe moving of victims to prevent deaths before arrival to a healthy facility.
Speaking during the training, Principal Wote KMTC Campus Mary Kioko noted that it was very important for the boda boda riders to be knowledgeable about first aid to reduce fatalities during accidents. "One of our key mandates is to ensure we save lives through such training where boda boda riders are equipped since they are usually the first people at the accident scene.
Their response can determine the fate of the victims," said MS Kioko while addressing the media on Wednesday at KMTC grounds.
