A total of 700 girls from four schools in Suba North Sub County have benefitted from sanitary pads donated by the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation in partnership with the International Association of Women Judges Kenya.
KPC Foundation representative, Job Apuko, said that the initiative was aimed at curbing school absenteeism associated with menstrual periods for girls, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.
The schools which benefitted were Lambwe Special School for the Deaf, Lambwe Christian School for the Deaf, Ongongo Secondary School and Lambwe Primary School.
He said that the foundation had also spent over Sh24 million improving infrastructure in schools in Homa Bay County.
