The Director of the National Registration Bureau, Aggrey Masai, has announced new measures for Kenyans applying for national identification documents following President William Ruto's directive to waive application fees.

Speaking in Nakuru during the launch of the renewed registration process at Shabab, Masai revealed that new applicants will now be required to be accompanied by at least one of their parents before being issued an ID.

Additionally, local administration officers, preferably a Chief, will conduct verification to confirm the parent-child relationship before the application is approved. "We have not lifted the ban on vetting; we have introduced new measures that will ensure proper verification," Masai announced.
