The establishment of a new administrative unit in the Ombolion area of North Pokot Sub-County, West Pokot County is set to significantly enhance security and government services to citizens.
The administrative unit will accommodate law enforcement officials, including police officers, the Assistant County Commissioner, the area chief and his assistants, as well as national police reservists, and is expected to have several positive impacts, according to locals and government officials.
During a press briefing, Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Emily Ogolla, representing West Pokot County Commissioner Abdullai Khalif, expressed gratitude to the government for financing the critical initiative through the ministry of Interior.
ACC Ogolla said the establishment of the administrative unit aims to enhance citizen's access to government services and effectively address security in the region, which has historically faced challenges related to crime and inter community conflicts.
