Over 2,000 people in Isinet town, Kajiado South constituency, now have reliable access to water after the commissioning of the Isinet borehole solarisation project by Kajiado County Governor Joseph ole Lenku.
The solarisation project, which was funded by the Financing Locally Led Climate Action Programme, Kenya (FLLoCA) programme, will ensure that the community will access a cost-effective and environmentally friendly water supply system.
The borehole, which has been a vital source of water for Isinet residents, was drilled by the Kajiado County government, but the high cost of electricity to pump water posed a significant challenge.
Speaking while commissioning the solarised borehole, Governor Lenku noted that the project was a major milestone in enhancing water accessibility, sustainability, and infrastructure security for the Isinet community as his administration works towards one of his legacy aspirations of livable towns. "We promised Kajiado residents a suitable environment for both residential living and business activities as outlined in the livable towns initiative, and connecting them with water is one of the steps towards achieving this," said Governor Lenku.
