President William Ruto has appointed former Lunga Lunga Member of Parliament Khatib Mwashetani as the chair of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

Through a gazette notice dated Friday, March 28, Ruto tapped the former MP to lead NTSA, with Mwashetani set to be at the helm for three years. "In exercise of the powers conferred by the National Transport and Safety Authority Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Mwashetani Khatib Abdallah to be the non-executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the National Transport and Safety Authority, for a period of three (3) years," the notice read.

Consequently, Mwashetani's appointment triggered the revocation of Timothy Bosire.

Bosire, who serves as the treasurer of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), had rejected the appointment, citing personal reasons.
