Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa has distributed free fertilizer and maize seeds to farmers in Butere Sub-County to boost food security in the area.
The programme aims to support low-income families, women, widows, and Persons with Disabilities by ensuring access to essential farm inputs during the planting season.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Governor Barasa reaffirmed his administration's commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity and food security. "Our goal is to empower small-scale farmers by providing them with the necessary resources to increase yields and improve their livelihoods," he stated.
The initiative, which will cover all sub-counties in Kakamega, is part of a broader strategy to boost food production and uplift vulnerable communities.
