Gucha Stars, a community football club based in Gucha Sub-County, Kisii County, is making waves in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division One Zone B league, where they currently sit at the top of the table following an impressive string of victories this season.
The club, whose home ground has seen an influx of enthusiastic fans, has not only demonstrated remarkable form on the pitch but is now setting its sights firmly on promotion to the National Super League (NSL), the country's second-tier football competition.
Speaking to the Kenya News Agency (KNA) after a thrilling 3-0 friendly victory against Sameta Boys, the club's head coach Sammy Okoth expressed confidence in his players' ability to secure promotion by the end of the season.
He noted that discipline, rigorous training and unity among the players have been key drivers of their current success. "All our players arrive early for training and give their best on the field," said Okoth. "The level of commitment I've seen is unmatched, and I'm confident that we have what it takes to win the remaining matches and secure promotion to the NSL," he added.
