Over 600 small-scale traders from Central and Shankoi wards in Trans Mara sub-county have a reason to smile after the national government allocated Sh300 million for the construction of a modern market in Kilgoris town.

The new development is expected to transform the local business environment and boost the livelihoods of the traders, especially women who have long operated in makeshift stalls and open-air spaces.

The allocation will go towards building a modern market that provides safe, clean, and accessible trading spaces.

This move is seen as a major step toward empowering local traders and improving the county's economic landscape.
