At least 104 plot owners in Nunguni town in Kilungu Subcounty, Makueni County, have been issued with land ownership documents by the area Governor Mutula Kilonzo Jr.

Mutula issued the allotment letters at Nunguni town, bringing a sigh of relief to beneficiary families, who had waited for years for formal recognition of their plots. "This noble undertaking is part of my administration's broader initiative to streamline land ownership in towns and trading centres across Makueni County," said Mutula, addressing the beneficiaries Thursday. "This marks a significant milestone in Makueni County's push for land tenure security," he added.

During the function, the governor announced that the county government will pay for the full cost of processing leasehold titles, lifting the financial burden from the plot owners.

The governor also added that the government will regularize land tenure in urban areas saying surveys have already been done for Wote, Kathozweni, Makindu and Mtito Andei towns, and plans are underway for Matiliku and Tawa in the next financial year.
